Day 2 - A visit to Maui's sister islands
The Maui group today split into two smaller groups, with each spending the entire day visiting Moloka’i or Lana’i, Maui’s sister islands.
On arrival at the islands, each group was met by a representative who provided a guided tour.
Moloka’i
Moloka’i is a country town that continues to practice Hawaiian tradition, remaining uncrowded and underdeveloped.
It is an ideal place for visitors wanting to experience nature, outdoor activities and the feeling of ‘old Hawaii’.
The population of Moloka’i is less than 8,500 people, who have the option to live by raising crops and catching fish.
Popular recreational activities on the island include hiking, kayaking, bike and horse riding.
Halawa Valley Lookout Point, Father Damien’s Church (St. Joseph), the Phallic Rock, Purdy’s Macadamia Farm, Maunaloa Town and the newly restored Hawaiian Fishpond are some of the sightseeing highlights at Moloka’i.
Lana’i
Lana’i is a small, sparsely populated island with its own strong identity – Hawaii’s Most Enticing Island.
A stay at Lana’i will make you feel like you’re on your own private island. There are no traffic lights or beeping horns.
The island boasts two championship golf courses surrounded by crystalline blue waters and pearl-white sands. Golf is just the beginning. Other activities include horseback riding, mountain bike trekking, deep sea fishing, archery, hiking and off road four-wheeling.
Lana’i offers two luxury hotels, The Four Seasons Resort Lana’i, The Lodge at Ko’ele and The Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay.
